Kooringal High opened in 1973 with 354 students in years seven and eight, 18 teachers, one office worker and eight cleaners. The school has grown to an enrolment of 931 students and over 80 members of staff, boasting a wide range of curricular and extracurricular programs. Kooringal High was made a Centre of Excellence in Performing Arts in the 1990s and is still known for its achievements in its artistic and performance projects.

Kooringal High School is one of three government co-educational high schools in the city of Wagga Wagga.
It is the 'Partially Academically Selective' high school in Wagga Wagga meeting the needs of academically talented students by providing intellectual stimulation through an educationally enriched environment.
Students enter this stream in Year 7 having successfully completed the State Selective Schools test.
Our overall class structures are designed to cater for all learners.
In addition to the Selective Class, Kooringal High School offers enrichment classes in an upper stream and mainstream classes covering all curriculum options for all other students.
