Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

The use of technology in the classroom is now considered a normal and vital part of the educational environment.  Students learn how to use the technology in a safe and effective manner to enhance their own learning and collaborate with others to develop 21st Century skills that will be vital in the workforce of the future.

Research shows that Australia has one of the world's highest levels of technology use and ownership.  It also shows that students are more likely to bring a familiar device to school, and use it more effectively.

In 2019, Kooringal High School will be looking to promote the use of a device for Year 7, Year 9 and Year 11 students. It will be anticipated that Year 7 students will bring a device to school in order to connect to the current modes of learning environments that focus on critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity. Year 9 and Year 11 students will also be expected to bring a device to school every day. Year 8, Year 10 and Year 12 are welcome to bring a device to school in 2019 but it is expected that by 2020 all students at Kooringal High School should be using a device as an everyday part of their learning.

Parents are encouraged to consider providing a device for their child to help maximise their child's learning.
