Head Teacher: Andrew Upton and Micheal Churchill
The Technology Faculty at Kooringal High School provides engaging, practical and industry-relevant learning experiences for students in Years 7–12. Through hands-on projects and real-world applications, students develop creativity, problem-solving skills and technical expertise that prepare them for further study, apprenticeships, traineeships and employment pathways.
Kooringal High School features outstanding specialist facilities, including two timber workshops, a metal workshop, a kitchen, a commercial kitchen, a textiles room and three modern design and engineering classrooms. These are supported by advanced manufacturing technologies such as laser cutters, CNC machinery and 3D printers, ensuring students work with contemporary tools aligned to current industry standards.
In Stage 4, students study Technology, exploring Materials and Production Processes, Digital and Communication Technologies, Engineering Technologies and Systems, and Food and Agricultural Practices. This course builds foundational skills in design, production and safe workshop practices.
In Stage 5, students can select elective courses including Industrial Technology (Timber and Metal), Engineering, Design and Technology, App and Game Design, Food Technology, Agriculture and Textiles Technology. These subjects allow students to specialise in areas of interest while developing project management, collaboration and practical production skills.
In Stage 6, students can extend their learning through courses such as Industrial Technology (Timber Products and Furniture Technologies), Engineering Studies, VET Construction, VET Hospitality, Software Engineering, VET Kitchen Operations, Agriculture, VET Manufacturing and Engineering, Design and Technology, and Textiles and Design. VET courses incorporate mandatory industry work placements, providing authentic workplace experience. Hospitality students also gain practical training through Café One Nine Five, the school’s fully operational café.
Across all stages, the Technology Faculty combines innovation and creativity with strong practical trade skills, supporting students to become confident, capable and work-ready learners.
