Student Wellbeing

Head Teacher: Mrs Roslyn Mattingly

Student wellbeing is a shared responsibility of the whole school community. At Kooringal High School, we are committed to creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where every student feels a strong sense of identity, belonging and purpose. Our aim is to support all students to actively participate in school life and achieve their personal and academic potential.

Our school takes a whole-school approach to supporting students’ mental, emotional and social development. Students participate in extended Home Room sessions, year-based wellbeing programs and targeted initiatives designed to support specific groups or address emerging needs. Significant events such as Harmony Day and NAIDOC Week are celebrated across the school, promoting respect, inclusion and cultural understanding.

Our Welfare Team works closely with students and families to address issues that may impact learning, wellbeing or safety at school. Through early intervention and supportive strategies, the team helps promote positive behaviour, engagement and a strong sense of connection to the school community.

Each year group is supported by a dedicated Year Advisor and Shadow Year Advisor who advocate for students and assist them in navigating school life and the challenges of adolescence. Our counselling staff also provide support for students experiencing personal or academic difficulties that may affect their ability to learn and thrive.
