Mathematics

Head Teacher: Mrs Liz Davies

The Mathematics Faculty at Kooringal High School is committed to developing confident, capable and resilient problem-solvers. As a core subject from Kindergarten to Year 10, Mathematics provides students with essential skills that support learning across all subject areas and prepare them for future study, training and employment pathways.

In Stages 4 and 5, students engage with the NSW Mathematics syllabus, with a strong emphasis on Working Mathematically. This approach develops students’ communication, reasoning, problem-solving and fluency skills, enabling them to apply mathematical thinking in meaningful and real-world contexts. In Stage 5, students study core topics while also engaging in Path content that supports preparation for their chosen senior Mathematics course.

In Stage 6, students continue to refine their analytical and problem-solving skills, applying mathematical strategies across a wide range of contexts. Kooringal High School offers a comprehensive selection of senior Mathematics courses to cater for diverse interests, abilities and post-school aspirations. With experienced and dedicated teachers who maintain high expectations for all learners, our faculty consistently supports students to achieve strong HSC outcomes and personal success.
