English
Head Teacher: Mrs Marie Speer
The English Faculty at Kooringal High School is committed to helping every student develop strong communication skills that build confidence, creativity and critical thinking. Through the study of language and a wide range of texts, students learn to express ideas clearly, engage with different perspectives and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.
From Years 7 to 12, students develop skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening and analysis. They explore novels, short stories, poetry, film and digital media, encouraging thoughtful discussion and engagement with ideas, cultures and experiences beyond their own.
Our programs are aligned with the NSW syllabus and focus on practical communication skills and meaningful learning. Students are supported to think critically, write creatively and respond thoughtfully to a variety of texts while developing the confidence to express their own ideas and viewpoints.
English is a mandatory subject for all students from Kindergarten to Year 12. At Kooringal High School, our experienced teachers provide a supportive and engaging learning environment that nurtures curiosity and fosters a lifelong appreciation of language and storytelling.
