Creative and Performing Arts
Head Teacher: Mr Gus Belling
The Creative and Performing Arts Faculty at Kooringal High School offers engaging and dynamic learning experiences that foster creativity, collaboration and critical thinking. Through Music, Visual Arts, Drama, Photography and Entertainment, students explore their imagination, develop technical skills and gain a lifelong appreciation of the arts.
Students study 100 hours of Visual Arts across Years 7 and 8, and 100 hours of Music in Year 8 as part of the mandatory curriculum. From Year 9, they can choose electives including Music, Visual Arts, Drama and Photography, which develop practical skills and performance experience.
Kooringal High School provides numerous opportunities for students to showcase their talents through school productions, ensembles and local, regional and state events such as Year 8 Idol, Performance Nights, School Spectacular and the Riverina Dance Festival. Our extra-curricular Funk Band has achieved state-wide recognition, and the annual whole-school musical remains a highlight involving hundreds of staff and students.
In Years 11 and 12, students can specialise in Music 1, Drama, Visual Arts, Industrial Technology Multimedia and Entertainment. Outstanding HSC students may be nominated for prestigious NSW showcases including Art Express, Encore, OnStage and Shape.
Through varied programs and performance opportunities, the Creative and Performing Arts Faculty nurtures confident, creative students ready to pursue their passions.
